Year 4 Visit to Cavell Court
10 Year 4 children visited Cavell Court Care Home last week.
The children took part in a workshop with some of the residents to upcycle a footstool. These will then be turned upside down to become plant pots for the residents garden.
The adults working with our pupils said they were friendly, well mannered, hard working and very creative.
It was a very enjoyable morning.

Year 2 Class Cafe
Kingfishers and Nightingales classes had a wonderful time with their parents/careres in their class cafes recently.
The event was focused on the story of “Worrysaurus”, a little dinosaur that was about to embark on a lovely day out when he became riddled with worries.
In the story, Worrysaurus has a special box filled with four items to help him regulate his emotions and help him to feel better in the situation.
The Year 2 children with their parents, then decorated their own special boxes which they could take home and fill with items to help them feel better if they have any worries. These could include a letter from a family member, a teddy, a photograph, a special peddle or stick and many other ideas.
We reminded ourselves of the Zones of Regulation as part of the cafes.
We thought about feeling in the green zone, ready to learn. Feeling calm, focused, proud, relaxed, happy and so on. We remembered that this is the zone we are aiming to be in.
After, we thought about the blue, red and yellow zones and how they made us feel.
We hope that the children are able to successfully use their special boxes at home to help them to regulate their emotions.
A huge thank you to all the parents that attended.
Year 2 team.

Norwich Science Festival – Climate Action
We were delighted to hear from The UEA & Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research that John, Charlotte, Daisy, Freya, Nikol, Isabelle, Eliana, Scarlett & Kenyon were at this year’s Norwich Science Festival during half term.
They showed a deep interest in the Climate Ambassador’s exhibiton, including sketching their thoughts about climate action at school – well done everyone !
Sports Report
Football
Year 5 played their second game of the season at Horsford. The boys played really well and won 2-4. Harris (2), Oben and Harry. It was lovely to see Harry score his first goal for the school team.
The team played another game at home against White Woman Lane under Mr Sowter’s management. The game finished 0-1 to the away side but the boys really tried their best.
Year 5/6 played their second game of the season away at Kinsale Junior. The boys got off to a great start with Austin scoring from distance, goals quickly followed from Abdul, Freddie, Henry, Harris (2) and Thomas. Freddie was rightly very proud of himself for his first goal in competitive football.
Well done to both the teams and thanks to all the parents for help with transport.
Cross Country
Both girls’ and boys’ teams ran their final race of the season at Old Catton Park. This race is one big lap of the park and harshly finishes with a hill!! The girls continued their strong performances with another win. The top 4 finishing 2,4,5 and 8th, with some really strong running from the rest of the team.
Again, the boys followed and worked really hard, Henry certainly didn’t struggle up the hill with a very fast finish. The boys had another win. Then it was over to the school building for the results of the whole season. Team results meant wins for both teams retaining the shields for another season.
In the individual results (over the season) Lucia took silver and Olivia bronze, both were really surprised and proud of their medals and achievements. Well done to all the children.
Thank you to all the parents for their help with transport and to Reverend Graham for supporting Miss Fish at some of the races.
Sports Leaders
A number of children from Year 5 took part in a Sports leader course run by the Norwich School Sports Partnership.
The children spent the morning finding out what skills a good leader needed. In the second session they learnt some games to lead with the younger children and in the afternoon, put all their training to practise by teaching the games to Year 1.
These Year 5 children make for promising Young Interpreters when they reach Year 6. In the meantime, they will be training our current Young Interpreters in how to play the games, valuable to making playtimes safe and enjoyable for all children.
We are really looking forward to seeing them in the playground putting their skills to the test.
Jenna from the partnership was really impressed with all their ideas and enthusiasm.
Netball
A group of keen girls from Year 5/6 netball club attended a taster session with Miss Fish at Trowse netball club. Cringleford Primary has had ties with this club for a number of years.
It was lovely to see some old pupils still enjoying their netball now they are at high school.
The girls played some team building games and netball drills before match play in the 7 aside format with the girls who already attend the club. Hopefully some of them will be inspired to join this or another local netball club.

Roblox – online safety
Roblox is one of the most popular online games for primary-aged children.
Many of our children enjoy playing and creating games on Roblox, using their creativity to build imaginative worlds.
While there are many positives to playing Roblox, it’s important to understand how the game works to keep our children safe.
Please take some time to read the article and advice for playing Roblox.
